Accounting settings

Tell AutoDealer where your books of record live and rename the chart of accounts so QuickBooks imports land without edits.

Settings → Accounting holds two things: where your dealership's books of record live, and the account names every journal entry is written under.

WhereDashboardSettingsAccounting

Where your books live

The owner picks between an external system (QuickBooks or another accounting package) and AutoDealer Books. AutoDealer posts your ledger activity either way; this setting records which system is the book of record and shapes the header on the Reports → Books tab.

Only the owner can change it, and every change is kept in an audit history.

Chart of accounts names

The names here are the ones that appear on every journal line, in the QuickBooks export file and on the Books tab alike. Out of the box they are sensible defaults ("Vehicle Inventory", "Sales Revenue - Vehicles", and so on); if your QuickBooks company uses different names, set them here before exporting and the imported entries land in the right accounts without any renaming on the QuickBooks side.

Owners and Managers can edit the names. A name left blank uses the default.

Renaming an account here changes how NEW exports and postings are labeled. It does not rewrite anything already posted or already imported into QuickBooks.
