Get documents e-signed (in-store or remote)
Send a deal's generated form pack for in-house e-signature — sign on the spot or email a secure link — then download the executed PDF and completion certificate.
Get your closing paperwork signed without printing it. AutoDealer.io has built-in e-signature — no DocuSign, no extra account. The buyer can sign on your screen in-store, or you can email them a secure link to sign from home. When everyone signs, you get a signed PDF and a completion certificate.
E-signature lives in Step 4 — Paperwork of the deal, in the E-signature card, right below the Forms section where you generate your form packs.
You sign a generated form pack, not loose documents. Build the pack first (the Forms section on the same Paperwork tab), then send that pack for signature.
Start a signing session
- Open the deal and go to the Paperwork tab.
- Generate your form pack first if you haven't (you can't sign nothing).
- Scroll to the E-signature card.
- Pick the pack from the dropdown.
- Click Send for signature.
This creates a signing session. The signers are filled in for you from the deal: the Buyer, the Co-buyer (if there is one), and the Dealer (you). Each unsigned signer shows Sign here (and, if they have an email, Email link) until they sign.
If you see "Generate a form pack above first, then send it for signature," there's no pack on the deal yet. Build one in the Forms section, then come back.
Sign in-store (on your screen)
Use this when the buyer is standing in front of you.
- In the session, find the signer and click Sign here.
- A signature pad opens. Choose Draw to sign with a finger, stylus, or mouse — or Type to type the name.
- Check the E-SIGN / UETA consent box. This is required.
- Click Adopt & sign.
Repeat for each party (buyer, co-buyer, dealer). The signer flips to a green Signed mark with the date and time.
Hand the device to the customer for their part, then take it back to sign as the dealer rep. Same session, same pad.
Send a remote signing link
Use this when the buyer isn't there. They sign from their own phone or computer.
- Make sure the signer has an email (the Email link button only appears when they do).
- Click Email link next to that signer.
- They get an email with a secure "Review & sign your paperwork" link.
- They open it, review the documents, sign with the same pad (Draw or Type), check the consent box, and submit.
The remote page shows only the paperwork and the signature pad — no login, no account needed.
Each link is single-use and expires in 14 days. Once a signer signs, their link stops working. If a link expires or you cancel the session, send a fresh one (re-send, or void and start over).
Track and finish
- A session is pending while anyone still needs to sign, completed when everyone has signed, and voided if you cancel it.
- When the last party signs, the session auto-completes.
- A completed session shows a Signed PDF download (the executed paperwork) and a Certificate link.
- The Certificate of completion lists every signer — name, party, signed time, consent time, and IP address — alongside their signature and the signed documents. Open it from the Certificate link, then Print or Download signed PDF from that page.
The signed record is the documents exactly as they were when you sent them. Editing the deal afterward does not change what was already signed.
Cancel a session
Need to redo it? On a pending session, click Void. This cancels the session and instantly kills any remote links you already emailed — they can no longer be used to sign. Then start a new session when you're ready.
You cannot void a completed session. Once everyone has signed, it's final. Get it right before the last signature.
FAQ
Do I need DocuSign or another service?
No. E-signature is built in on every plan. There's no separate account, no per-signature fee, and nothing to connect.
Who can send documents for signature?
Owners, Managers, and Sales users. Signers themselves don't need an account — the buyer signs on your screen in-store or through the emailed link.
What can the customer sign with?
They can draw their signature (finger, stylus, or mouse) or type their name. Either way they must check the E-SIGN / UETA consent box first. Both are captured as their electronic signature with consent, timestamp, and IP recorded.
The "Email link" button isn't showing. Why?
That signer has no email address on file. Remote links go by email, so add an email to the buyer/co-buyer (on the deal or customer record) and it will appear.
The customer says their link doesn't work.
Most likely it expired (links last 14 days), it was already used (they already signed), or you voided the session. Send a new link, or void and restart and email a fresh one.
Where do I get the final signed copy?
On a completed session, click Signed PDF for the executed document, or open the Certificate to see the full signing audit trail and download/print from there.
Can I sign loose, one-off documents?
No. Signing always attaches to a generated form pack on a deal. Build the pack first, then send that pack for signature.
