Autotrader, Cars.com and other listing sites
List your cars on Autotrader, Cars.com, Carsforsale.com, TrueCar and Edmunds. You need an account there, then turn on its card and choose Request setup.

AutoDealer.io lists your cars on Autotrader, Cars.com, Carsforsale.com, TrueCar and Edmunds. Each site has its own card under Settings → Marketplaces, with its own inventory file and the steps for that site. You need an account with the site, and that company sets you up on its side. You turn the card on and choose Request setup, AutoDealer.io works with that company to get your file accepted, and from then on your cars are listed and updated every day.
Only owners and managers can turn a card on and request setup.
Set up a site
The steps are the same for all five, and each card has them under How it works: click it to open them. CarGurus works the same way: see CarGurus and the generic feed.
- Have an account with that site. You arrange your account and your package with the site itself, and we can't open one for you.
- Go to Settings → Marketplaces, find the site under Listing sites and turn it on with its switch. Your file for that site goes live, and the card now shows Request setup and your Feed URL.
- Choose Request setup, and add your rep's name if you have it.
- AutoDealer.io contacts you and your rep and works with that company to get your file accepted. You upload nothing. If your rep asks for your inventory file, send them your Feed URL.
- Once that company has set you up, your cars are listed and updated every day. Cars you add show up, price and photo changes carry over, and sold cars come off on their own.
Your dealer ID at that site
If the company gave you a dealer ID, enter it on the site's card once it's on, and your file for that site carries it. The box is optional. Leave it empty if you don't have one, and the file uses your six-digit AutoDealer.io dealer ID from Settings → Dealer info.
Your file
Each file has its own columns, and each company decides what it accepts, so a rep may ask us to change yours during setup. We make that change on our side, and you do nothing.
What goes on your listings
- Which cars: published to your website, for sale (status Available), with an asking price, at least one public photo, a VIN, and the year, make and model. A car's Listing readiness panel on its Edit page shows what it is missing.
- About the car: its photos, mileage and details, and its description, followed by your listing disclaimer if you use one.
- Price: your asking price. Never your cost, and never the original MSRP.
- Your customers and your deals: never shared.
Leads from your listings come from that site, to the address you gave it. They don't land in your Leads list on their own: see How leads come in.
Autotrader
You need an Autotrader dealer package, which you buy from Autotrader. Add your Autotrader rep's name to the request. Ask your rep how Autotrader wants any dealer fees shown, because the price on your listings is your asking price.
If another company lists your cars on Autotrader today, tell us and your rep before you switch, so your cars don't show twice during the change.

Cars.com
You need a Cars.com dealer account. Your rep or Cars.com dealer support can confirm what yours includes. If you work with dealer support and have no rep, leave the name blank.
Cars.com shows shoppers an all-in total, and the price on your listings is your asking price. In your Cars.com account, set Total Price or Base Price to match it, and enter any fees there. A field you edit by hand in your Cars.com account stops following your file until you unlock it, and Price Lock stops price updates from your file.

Carsforsale.com
You need a Carsforsale.com dealer account. You keep it, and Carsforsale.com keeps billing you for it. Carsforsale.com has to agree to the setup, and it may want to hear from you too. If it asks, tell its support team that AutoDealer.io provides your inventory.

TrueCar
You need to be in the TrueCar network, with a TrueCar dealer agreement. Add your TrueCar contact's name to the request. TrueCar keeps its own program rules, such as how fast you answer shoppers, and those stay between you and TrueCar.
TrueCar gets the cars you publish, never your deals or your customers. If its program asks you for anything else, such as sales records, tell us before you send it.

Edmunds
You need an Edmunds dealer agreement, on the terms Edmunds sets. Add your Edmunds contact's name to the request. Edmunds gets the cars you publish, with your asking price. Your cost, your customers and your deals stay with you.

FAQ
How long does setup take?
There is no fixed time, because that company has to finish its side. AutoDealer.io keeps you and your rep informed until you're set up.
Do I upload anything?
No. AutoDealer.io handles the setup with that company, and your listings follow the cars you publish. The only thing you might send is your Feed URL, if your rep asks for your inventory file.
Does turning the card on list my cars?
Not by itself. It makes your file for that site available. That company still has to set you up, and your rep confirms when it has. The card reads Ready to set up while it is on.
Does it cost extra?
Not from us. The integration is included in every AutoDealer.io plan. Your account or package with the site is separate, and that company bills you for it.
Can I use more than one of these sites?
Yes. Each site has its own card and its own file, so turn on each one and choose Request setup on it.
My cars aren't showing on the site yet.
Check, in order: the site's card is on, you chose Request setup on it, that company has finished setting you up (your rep can confirm), and the car is published and for sale with an asking price, a public photo, a VIN, and its year, make and model. After that, each company decides what appears on its own site.
Where do I find my file for a site?
On that site's card, under Feed URL, once the card is on. A card that's off shows no link, because the link only works while the card and your feeds are on. See Your feed URL and token.
