Add a disclaimer to every car you list

Write one note, like "may sell locally, call to confirm", and show it under every car on your website, marketplaces and Craigslist.

The listing disclaimer is one note your dealership writes once and every car carries. A common one: your cars are also for sale on the lot, so a shopper who drives in from far away should call first. Instead of adding that sentence to each car's description, write it here and switch it on.

Set it up

  1. Open Settings, then Listing disclaimer under Inventory.
  2. Under What it says, type your note, or click an example (May sell locally, Call before you visit, Details may change) and change it to your own words. Up to 500 characters.
  3. Turn on Show it on every car.
  4. Under How it looks on your website, pick a look. Each one shows a preview with your words.
  5. Click Save.

Shoppers read the note exactly as you write it. Keep it short and true for every car.

Turning it off keeps your words saved, so you can switch it back on later without retyping.

Write it with AI

Click Write it with AI, say what it should cover in What should it say? (for example, "our cars can sell locally, so ask shoppers to call before they come"), and click Write it. Leave that box empty to improve the words you already wrote. Read the draft, click Use this, change anything you like, then Save. Nothing goes on your cars until you save.

The AI writes in your website's language, and each draft uses a little of your AI allowance. It keeps to what you asked: no prices, fees, warranties or promises.

The three looks

LookWhat shoppers see
Soft note boxA quiet box with an info icon, under the description. The default.
Fine printA small line in italics. The quietest, and the easiest to miss.
Highlighted calloutA box with a colored edge and the heading "Please note" ("Tenga en cuenta" on a Spanish site). The hardest to miss.

All three use your website's colors and sit between the car's description and its features. A car with no description still shows it.

Where it shows

  • Your website: under every car's description, in the look you picked. It is left off a sold car's page.
  • Facebook, CarGurus, Cars.com, Autotrader and OfferUp: added at the end of each listing's description. When a description is long, the description is shortened so your note is never cut.
  • Google vehicle listings: in Google's own disclaimer field, which Google shows with the listing.
  • Craigslist: right under the description in new posts. Posts already up are not changed.

Your website changes as soon as you save. Marketplaces pick up the change the next time they read your inventory feed. When Facebook is connected with auto-sync on, your published cars are sent to Facebook again within a few minutes.

Leave it off one car

Maybe one car is on hold for a buyer and the note does not fit it.

  1. Open the car from Inventory and click Edit.
  2. Under the description, find Listing disclaimer and turn its switch off.

The switch saves at once; there is nothing else to save. The car's page in the dashboard shows the note crossed out, and the website and your listings leave it off for that car only. Turn the switch back on to show it again.

The AI description writer never adds availability notes of its own ("call to confirm", "may sell before you arrive"), because your listing disclaimer already says it once.
