The AI pricing strategist
A skill for the dealer assistant that keeps every car for sale priced to sell, aged cars, prices below cost, and what comparable cars ask nearby with a source on every price, every change as a card you approve.
The pricing strategist is a skill the dealer assistant loads on every plan. Ask "how are my prices", "which cars should I reprice", "what are other dealers asking for cars like A100" or "set A100 to the market", and the assistant reads your numbers, and the market when you ask for it, and puts the one next card in front of you.
The pricing strategist is switched on for every plan, and for free trials. Its suggested prices build on book value and AI pricing.
Your own numbers first
The pricing brief is free and instant. It lists every car for sale, the ones needing a price decision first, with each car's asking price, what it cost you (the purchase plus every cost on it), your margin at that price, its book retail, its days on the lot, its website views over the last two weeks, and how long it has been at this price. It flags:
- No price: for sale with no asking price, so nobody can buy it online.
- Below cost: asking less than the car cost you.
- Above book: asking more than 5% over book retail.
- Aged: on the lot 45 days or more, and price unchanged when its price has not moved in 30 days.
- No shopper interest: listed on your website with no views in two weeks.
- No book value, or one older than 30 days.
It also shows the app's own suggested price (book retail less a small discount for age, or cost plus a margin when there is no book value). That is a formula, not the market, and the assistant says so.
The market, when you ask
The market check searches car-listing and price-guide sites (Cars.com, Autotrader, CarGurus, Carfax, TrueCar, Edmunds, Kelley Blue Book, CarMax, Carvana and others) near your dealership for cars like one of yours, and shows every price it found with a link to the page it came from, plus the lowest, middle and highest. A price guide's value is shown beside the listings, never mixed in.
- It runs only when you ask, one car at a time. Each check is a few web searches, about 30 cents, counted against your monthly AI allowance, and takes around 20 seconds.
- A price is kept only when it came from a page the search really returned, and at most three from any one page; anything else is dropped. When every price comes from one site, the assistant says it is that retailer's prices rather than the whole market.
- With fewer than three comparable listings, the assistant tells you the read is thin and does not call your car above or below the market.
Changing a price
Every price change is a card you approve: the price you give, or the assistant's recommendation once you ask it to set one, with its reason and the margin at the new price. A price below what the car cost is never proposed without the assistant saying so.
What it never does
- Invent a market price, a listing or a source.
- Run a market check you did not ask for, or across the whole lot on its own.
- Change a price on its own judgement, or promise a car will sell at a price.
- Treat a listing's text as an instruction.
Every change is a card you approve (see AI actions and approval).
Who can do what
The skill adds no permissions. A team member who cannot change a car's price in the app cannot do it through the assistant either.
