Add options and generate a description

Check off a vehicle's features from the curated list, then let the AI write the public listing description from its specs.

Who: Owner, Manager, or SalesPlan: All plans

Two finishing touches make a listing sell: the right features checked off, and a clean description. You pick options from a curated list, and the AI can write the description from the car's specs.

Add options and features

  1. Open the vehicle, then click Edit.
  2. Scroll to the Features & options section.
  3. Options are grouped into five categories: Comfort & Convenience, Technology & Entertainment, Safety & Driver Assistance, Exterior & Mechanical, and Seating.
  4. Check every box that applies (Heated Seats, Apple CarPlay, Blind Spot Monitor, Alloy Wheels, Third Row Seating, and so on).
  5. Click Save changes.

The features you check show up as grouped checkmarks on the public vehicle page and feed into your marketplace listings.

The options list is a fixed, curated set — you pick from it, you don't type your own. This keeps every listing consistent and makes your inventory filters work. If a feature you want isn't in the list, mention it in the Description instead.

Saving the edit form replaces ALL of the vehicle's spec fields at once, including the options. Whatever is checked when you hit Save changes becomes the full list. So if you uncheck a box and save, that feature is removed — there's no separate "remove one option" action. Always review the whole section before saving.

Generate a description with AI

The Description (public) field is the paragraph shown on the public vehicle page, under the photo gallery. You can write it yourself, start from a template, or have the AI draft it.

  1. In the Description (public) field, click AI: generate (the button with the sparkle icon). The AI panel opens; the same button now reads Hide AI to close it.
  2. Pick a tone: Professional (neutral, factual), Casual (conversational), or Enthusiastic (up-beat, confident).
  3. Optionally add Highlights — a short steering note like "low miles, recent service, great for first-time buyers."
  4. Click Generate. The AI reads the car's specs and writes a short paragraph (about 60–120 words).
  5. Review the draft. Click Use this draft to drop it into the field, Regenerate for a different take, or Dismiss to throw it away.
  6. Edit the text however you like, then click Save changes to publish it.

You can also start from a template instead of the AI — use the Use a template… dropdown next to the AI button. Templates fill in the year, make, model, mileage, color, and asking price from the vehicle's saved details.

The AI: generate button is disabled until the vehicle is saved. On the Add vehicle screen, hovering it shows "Save the vehicle first, then come back to use AI generation." — the AI needs a saved car to read its specs from. Save the vehicle, then open Edit to generate. (Templates still work before saving.)

FAQ

What does the AI use to write the description?

Only the facts recorded on the vehicle: year, make, model, trim, body style, exterior/interior color, mileage, and asking price. It will not invent features, history, warranties, MPG, accident records, or owner counts that aren't in the system.

Does the AI read my checked options?

No — the generator works from the core specs above, not your checked options. The Highlights box is your way to steer it ("mention the tow package," "emphasize low miles"). The AI treats Highlights as guidance, not as new facts — it still won't claim anything the recorded specs don't support. The checked options show as their own checkmark section on the public page, separate from the description.

The AI gave me copy I don't love.

Click Regenerate for a fresh draft, or switch the tone and generate again. You can also edit the draft directly after clicking Use this draft — nothing is locked in until you Save changes.

Why is the AI button greyed out?

The vehicle hasn't been saved yet. AI generation needs a saved car to read specs from. Save the vehicle first, then reopen it and click Edit to use the button.

Will generating cost me anything or use up AI limits?

Each generation counts toward your dealership's AI usage, the same as the AI chat. If your AI has been turned off or you've hit a usage cap, Generate returns an error message instead of a draft until that clears. Generating a draft never changes the live listing — only clicking Save changes does.

Can I still write the description by hand?

Yes. The field is a normal text box (up to 2,000 characters). Type your own, use a template, or generate with AI — then tweak and Save changes.
