Add custom pages (financing, about, warranty)

Create custom pages like Financing, About, or Warranty that show up in your site nav, write them as text or build them from your home page's sections, and let the public AI answer shopper questions from them.

Who: Owner or Admin / ManagerPlan: All plans

Add your own pages to your storefront: Financing, Warranty, Privacy, whatever you need. Each one shows up in your site navigation, and your storefront AI assistant can answer shopper questions straight from the page.

Create a page

  1. Go to Website → Pages, then click New page.
  2. Type a Title (for example, Financing). A URL slug is suggested automatically (financing); edit it if you want.
  3. Click Create draft. You land on the page editor.
  4. In the Body (Markdown) box, type your content. Use # for headings, **bold**, lists, and links.
  5. Use the Write / Preview toggle above the body to switch to Preview and see how it will render.
  6. Click Save draft to keep your work, then Publish when you're ready to go live.

A page only appears on your public site after you Publish it. Drafts are private. Only your team can see them, plus anyone you share a preview link with (via the Copy preview link button).

Build a page from sections

Instead of writing the page as text, you can build it from the same sections your home page uses, and each one looks the way it does there.

  1. Open the page and, under Page content, choose Sections.
  2. Click Add section and pick one: Text block, Image and text, Questions and answers, Special offer, Why buy from us, How it works, Meet the team or Buy or sell prompt. It arrives with sample words.
  3. Click a section to open it and type your own words. The arrows move it up or down, the eye hides it without deleting it, and the bin takes it off the page.
  4. Click Save draft, then Copy preview link to see the page on your site's design, and Publish when it is ready.
  • The page's title opens it, above the sections.
  • A page holds up to 20 sections. A text block, an image with text and a special offer can appear more than once; the others once.
  • Missing words are marked in red, and the draft is not saved until they are filled in.
  • Pictures come from your media library, the same as on your home page.
  • Your text is kept. Choose Text (Markdown) again and the text you had before is back; it asks first, and the live page changes only when you publish.
  • Search engines and your assistant read the words your sections show, and questions and answers are marked up for search engines the way a text page's are.
  • About, Contact, Financing, Trade-in, Reviews, Accessibility and a privacy page stay text: those show inside a page of their own on your site.
  • The sections that need your whole site (the hero, your featured cars, the inventory strips, reviews, contact and hours) stay on the home page.

Where the page appears

Once published, the page is added to your site navigation automatically. The public URL is your storefront address plus the slug, for example your-slug.autodealer.io/financing.

To set the nav order, go back to Website → Pages and drag the grip handle on the left of each row up or down. The top-to-bottom order in this list is the order new pages join your site menu; once you arrange the menu with the Menu button in the visual builder, that arrangement decides the menu.

Every storefront has built-in Home, Inventory, Financing, Trade-in, Reviews (once there is something to show), About, and Contact links, and your custom pages appear after them. If you name a custom page about, contact, financing, trade-in, reviews or accessibility, it is not added to the nav a second time: the built-in page shows your words in its place. A few slugs are reserved (inventory, preview, and a handful of system slugs), and the editor will block them.

Edit, rename, or delete

  1. Go to Website → Pages and click the row for the page you want to change.
  2. Edit the Title, URL slug, or Body, then click Save draft.
  3. Click Publish to push your latest changes live. Until you do, the row shows an Unpublished changes badge.
  4. To remove a page, scroll to the Danger zone and click Delete page (you'll be asked to confirm).

The URL slug and the SEO fields apply the moment you click Save draft, not on Publish. (The Title and Body changes wait for Publish.) Renaming the slug moves the live URL right away. Don't worry about broken links: the old URL automatically redirects to the new one.

If you leave before you save

  • Your browser asks first. A reload, a closed tab or another address with changes you have not saved brings up your browser's "Leave site?" question.
  • Your words are kept in this browser. If they are lost anyway (a crash, a closed laptop, a click to another screen), open the page again: they are back, with a message saying so. Its Discard puts the saved draft back.
  • Discard changes, next to Save draft, throws away everything typed since the last save. It asks first.
  • If the page was saved after you typed (by a teammate, in another tab, or by an assistant card you approved), the editor opens on the saved page and offers your words: Put them back or Discard them. It never lays them over the newer save on its own.

Kept words live only in the browser you typed them in. Save draft is what keeps them for your team.

Page history

Every time you publish a page, a version of its words is saved. Open the page and scroll to Page history: each row is one publish, with its title and length (or how many sections it had). Restore to draft puts that version's title, text and search fields back into the page's draft, and into the editor above at once; the live page does not change until you press Publish, so you can read it over first. The slug and the social card image are not part of a version (the slug has its own redirect history; the image is a file you manage on the page).

Help search engines find it (SEO)

In the editor, expand the SEO (search engine listing) section to set:

  • Meta title: what shows in the browser tab and search results. Falls back to the page title if blank.
  • Meta description: the one-line summary under your link in search results. If you leave it blank, AutoDealer.io generates one from the start of your page.
  • Social share image: the picture a link to the page previews with on Facebook, X, LinkedIn or in a text message. It works on every page, your About, Contact, Financing, Trade-in, Reviews, Accessibility and privacy pages included. On a published page it goes live as soon as it uploads, with nothing to save or publish. If you skip it, the page shares your site's generated card: your dealership's name, your town, how many vehicles you have in stock and your logo (see Link previews).

On your About, Contact, Financing, Trade-in and Reviews pages, a meta title or meta description you set here wins over the one in Search results in the visual builder. Leave it blank and the Search results words are used.

If your page is built as a list of questions and answers (at least two ## (H2) headings, each one ending with a ?), AutoDealer.io automatically marks it up as an FAQ so Google can show your Q&A directly in search results. A single stray "Got questions?" header won't trigger it.

Let the AI answer from your page

Your storefront's AI chat assistant can read your published custom pages. When a shopper asks something like "do you offer financing?" or "what's your warranty?", the assistant can pull the answer from the matching page and link the shopper to it.

That means a well-written Financing or Warranty page does double duty: a page shoppers can read, and a source your AI assistant can quote from.

The public AI only reads your published pages, and only ever shares public content. It never reveals costs, customer info, or deal details. Keep anything sensitive off your custom pages.

Ask the assistant

In the AI chat, "what's missing on our website?" reads the builder's state: the live theme and domain, when the site was last published, what the home page has, each custom page with whether its draft differs from what is live and whether its meta title and description are set, and a plain checklist derived from that. "Write a better About page" or "give the financing page a meta description" prepares a card. A new title or body goes to that page's draft and shows only when you press Publish here. A meta title or description is not part of the draft, the same as in the editor, so approving the card changes it on your live page right away, and the card says so. Every card can be undone.

FAQ

Do I need to know HTML?

No. Pages are written in Markdown, which is plain text with simple marks like # for a heading, ** for bold, and - for a bullet. The Preview toggle shows exactly how it will look.

Why isn't my new page showing on my site?

A page is only live after you click Publish. Check the status badge in Website → Pages: Draft means it has never been published; Unpublished changes means your latest edits aren't live yet. Click into the page and hit Publish.

I closed the tab before I saved. Are my changes gone?

No, as long as you open the page again in the same browser: the editor kept what you typed and puts it back. See If you leave before you save.

I moved here from another website builder. Can my old addresses still work?

Yes. Under Website, Advanced, Redirects, add a row for each old address (a path on your site, such as /vehicle-details/123 or /pages/about.html) and where it should go (a page on your site, such as /inventory, or a full https:// address). Save, and the old address forwards permanently. A redirect applies only to an address that is not a page, a car or a built-in page on your site, so it can never hide one, and it forwards once (never through another redirect). Up to 100.

No. When you change the slug and click Save draft, AutoDealer.io creates an automatic redirect from the old URL to the new one, so existing bookmarks and shared links keep working.

Use the Menu button in the visual builder. See Arrange your site menu.

How do I change the order of pages in my menu?

Use the Menu button in the visual builder: it arranges every link in your menu, built-in and custom. The order under Website → Pages only decides where a new page joins the menu (after the built-in links) until you arrange it there.

Can a teammate preview a draft before it goes live?

Yes. Open the page and click Copy preview link. It copies a private link (valid for 7 days) you can share with anyone, no login required, without publishing the page.

Who can create and edit pages?

Owners and Managers. Other roles can sign in and view the dashboard, but won't be able to create or change custom pages.

How do I keep a page out of search engines?

Open the page, open SEO (search engine listing) and tick Hide this page from search engines, then save. The page still opens for anyone with the link and stays in your menu; it is left out of your sitemap and asks search engines not to list it. See How your website reads in search results.
